Members of our new family of Positive NRG Homes™, the MB-1, MB-2, and MB-3 plans are examples of how we can either “dress up” or “strip down” a true-net-zero-energy home to fit the needs and budget of our customer. The 1,955 square foot MB-1 plan, on this page, is dressed up with a full wrap-around covered porch and patio, which connects to a full detached garage (plans sold separately), with a carport in between. Ideal for the larger rural lot, this plan can either be open upstairs for hobby and office space, or it can have anywhere from one to three bedrooms upstairs for the larger family. The upper floor of the MB-2 plan is just one example of the many ways the upstairs area can be divided, in that case providing two upstairs bedrooms, and a den.
This plan offers up enough south-facing roof area to support over 10 KW of solar panels, or 9 KW and a solar hot water system. In most climate zones this will take this home WAY below net-zero-energy! When solar panels are also installed on the porch roof, this home can also power your electric car!
We have just completed our Arctic Version of this plan designed to handle temperatures in the -60˚F range!
Our MB-2 plan was just awarded the National Green Building Award for Concept & Research, our third such award in four years!

What's Included in Our Zero-Energy Home Packages
We provide the most complete plan packages available on the market. We are interested in the ultimate success of your project, not just in selling a set of house plans.
We used to ship either a “Basic Set” of plans, with just one copy of each page, or a “full Set”, which ideally would include enough plan pagers for all of your key suppliers and subcontractors. Now most of these people prefer to have you send them a PDF to bid from and work from, and they will carry it with them in the portable device.
There are now FedEx Office, Office Max, and similar locations all over the country where you can have full size plans printed at a far lower cost than what we can provide, especially when the cost and time required to ship them across the country is considered. When you need an extra copy of a certain page, you can simply e-mail the pdf page you need to the local outlet, and they will have it all printed and ready for pick-up by the time you arrive. Isn’t technology wonderful!
